Education, vector against HIV / AIDS
HAIRDRESSERS AGAINST AIDS is an educational program for prevention against HIV / AIDS. It is part of the Education
programs of the Professional Products Division.
Its network of educators with their teaching expertise has developed a strategy to prevent
HIV among hairdressers around the world.
The objective is to improve knowledge and understanding
of salon professionals on HIV and AIDS to make them actors from the HIV/AIDS prevention.
An Education Kit was created under the supervision of UNESCO, for all educators and trainers in the Professional Products Division, in the world.
4 new films were made. They deal with the prevention against HIV /AIDS.
4 different themes are developed:
The myths and realities concerning the transmission of HIV/AIDS .The importance of protection and detection. Transmission from mother to child. Stigmatization and discrimination.
The educational program "HAIRDRESSERS AGAINST AIDS” encourages all hairdressers to get involved and to educate the public and especially youth, to the prevention of AIDS epidemic. Trained hairdressers have a key role in raising public awareness of the pandemic and are actively involved against AIDS!
- Interviews : The myths and realities regarding the transmission of HIV/AIDS. What we need to know, why hairdressers should be involved.
- T-shirt :Beware of Stigmatization and Discrimination. How to live with HIV ? How do I deal towards people with HIV ? The social link is vital to help people with the virus.
- What to do if ... : This film insists on the importance of protection and detection of HIV / AIDS. He reminds us that this can happen to anyone. Knowing your HIV status can Save.
- Pregnant: Transmission of HIV from mother to child .. It is important to talk about. What are the Treatments to prevent the transmission and save lives?

- This quiz fully work with UNESCO assesses your knowledge of HIV/ AIDS. It is a essential medium of communication between hairdressers and their customers.
Hairdresser’s Training :
Each training session takes about 15 minutes.
- The trainer, who is not an expert on HIV/AIDS, explains the program "HAIRDRESSERS AGAINST AIDS" through a power point presentation.
- Participants are invited to respond anonymous to twenty personal questions from the Quiz.
- The trainer shows one or more of the 4 films of prevention.
- Finally, participants are informed of sources for local information on HIV / AIDS.
