A Simple and Reliable Tool

An active, imaginative approach to a complex subject, the first learning module for HAIRDRESSERS AGAINST AIDS provides L'Oréal facilitators with a simple, effective tool. There are two CD's, a film and support material:

• VERTIGO: A 12-minute film uses powerful metaphors from nature and life that raise awareness about the universal impact of the AIDS epidemic.

• Support material includes guidelines for the facilitator, a quiz for learners to test their knowledge before and after the film and a document with answers to the quiz in the form of excerpts from the film.

Building Confidence and Understanding

Each training session lasts a maximum of 25 minutes :

• The facilitator of the training course, who is not a specialist in HIV and AIDS, uses the guidance in the package to introduce the programme.
• Participants fill in a short quiz.
• The facilitator shows VERTIGO.
• Participants fill in the quiz a second time, comparing their answers to those filled in before the film.
• An answer sheet is distributed, using the narrative from the film.
• Participants receive a list of local information sources for HIV and AIDS.
