AIDS EPIDEMIC IN THE US • There are 1.1 million Americans living with the disease today • Every 9 ½ minutes someone in the United States is infected with HIV • 21% of those infected do not know that they are infected... THE HAIRDRESSERS AGAINST AIDS PROGRAM launches in the USA on Dec 1st, 2010. With the advocacy campaign "Use your voice, use your power, for a better world without AIDS", our mission is to: - inspire all stylists to use their voice and their power to generate awareness about the AIDS epidemic - develop an Education Training Plan for all PPD Educators. THE USA PARTNERS ARE: • UNESCO (United National Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) • GBC (Global Business Coalition): Network of 200 international organizations dedicated to raising awareness and a direct link to The White House and The Center of Disease Control • CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention): United States Federal Agency-Department of Health and Human Services, that is the leading authority on disease and infection awareness information.
Our actions
On World AIDS Day, DECEMBER 1st 2010: • 500 hairdressers will take to the streets of New York City and speak to 1 million people about AIDS • 6 video booths and 500 handheld cameras will capture World AIDS Day conversations on December 1, 2010 • 1.5 million people will see Hairdressers Against AIDS testimonials broadcasted on billboards in Times Square on World AIDS Day • A digital marketing email will be sent on World AIDS Day reaching 196,049 salon professionals and 537,414 consumers • In 2011, over 6 million materials will be distributed to salons in the U.S., including 37,500 salon mirror clings, 11,500 double-sided door clings, 4,718,600 client leaflets, and 2,150,000 client magnets • Events and initiatives already planned for the 2011 year estimate reaching over 111,700 people • Read, see and hear all about this groundbreaking event with approximately 100 million media impressions surrounding the campaign in the U.S. • In the United States alone, Hairdressers Against AIDS will be reaching more than 103 million people for a more beautiful world without AIDS.
