L'Oréal and UNESCO mobilise South African hairdressers to join global AIDS Campaign This World AIDS Day, L'Oréal South Africa mobilised its partner hair salons in Sandton City, Johannesburg, and Jabulani Mall, Soweto, to take part in L'Oréal and UNESCO's global AIDS awareness programme, Hairdressers Against AIDS. L'Oréal joined forces with UNESCO in 2005 to fight the spread and impact of HIV/AIDS through this unique prevention education programme by providing hairdressing professionals with the resources needed to inform people of the risks related to the disease. The programme, which has its roots in an initiative L'Oréal started in 2001 in South Africa, is currently operating in 24 countries on every continent. Through the Hairdressers Against AIDS programme, L'Oréal actively supports World AIDS Day on 1 December by mobilising its international network of hairdressers.
